This page is dedicated to Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) parents who allow us to serve them and their children in our programs. Parents are very special individuals in MSHS and we find that they are amazing human beings who continue to awe and inspire us. MSHS parents are dedicated to a positive and bright future for their families and their children. They attend parent meetings and trainings after working 15 hours in the hot sun. They help us make administrative and programmatic decisions, pouring over budgets, quality improvement plans and work plans long into the evening. They volunteer their time and energy on various projects in our centers on a daily basis. They have an insatiable desire to learn and grow as human beings and as parents. They honor us by allowing us to care for and educate their most precious treasures each day. They honor us with their humility, their smiles, their talents and their generosity.

Parents who volunteer in MSHS are given priority in terms of being hared as employees for positions for which they are qualified per Head Start Program Performance Standards. A great percentage of employees nationwide are past MSHS parents who have been trained as volunteers in centers and hired on as staff. Our programs then have a powerful combination of current parents, parents as staff and dedicated staff members from our communities.

This page provides resources for parents, and staff working with parents, in the area of parent involvement. There is a variety of resources which include information on program governance, parent's rights in Head Start, general parent participation, etc. Also, contained on this page are some activities parents can do with children. Remember, play is the work of children and allowing parents and children to play together builds positive relationships that support children throughout their development.

Thank you to all our parents and all our dedicated staff for all your hard work!
